Apache Announces New Discovery in Delaware Basin - Apache Corporation (NYSE:APA) (Houston, Texas) on Wednesday announced a major new oil and gas discovery in the southern Delaware Basin in Texas. The company estimates hydrocarbons in place on its acreage position are 75 trillion cubic feet of rich gas and 3 billion barrels of oil in the Barnett and Woodford formations. (Apache)
EIA Forecasts U.S. Crude Production to Fall Less Than Previously Expected - The U.S. Energy Information Administration reports that it expects 2016 U.S. crude production will fall by 650,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) to 8.77 million BBL/d, while 2017 crude output will fall by 260,000 BBL/d to 8.51 million. Previously, the EIA forecast a decline of 700,000 BBL/d to 8.73 million BBL/d in 2016 and a decline of 420,000 BBL/d to 8.31 million BBL/d in 2017. (Reuters)
Chamber of Commerce Paints Grim Picture if Fossil Fuels were 'Kept in the Ground' - The final stage of the U.S. presidential contest traditionally kicks off on Labor Day. With two months until Election Day, it is said, voters are now ready to begin thinking about their presidential choices. Games of "what if" are being played by both candidates' camps, and their voters, on a wide range of issues. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is asking a very pointed "what if" question: What if all forms of energy production were banned on federal lands and waters? (IIR)

NextDecade Recieves DoE Permission to Export LNG to Countries with U.S. Free Trade Agreement - NextDecade LLC (The Woodlands, Texas) announced on Wednesday that it has received permission from the U.S. Department of Energy to export up to 27 million tons per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its proposed Rio Grande LNG facility to countries with a free trade agreement with the U.S. (Project: 300186992, 300198653, 300198661, 300199084; Plant: 3134670) (Business Wire)

U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve Needs Revamp - The Obama administration has sent Congress a plan to modernize the country's emergency oil reserve, a step that could set in motion a sale of about 8 million barrels from the stash to help pay for the revamp, the Energy Department said on Wednesday. Congress would need to approve a series of oil sales worth $2 billion from fiscal 2017 to 2020 to pay for the modernization. (Reuters)
