Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Datang International Power Generation Company Limited's (SHA:601991) (Beijing) Jishan Windfarm received approval from the Development and Reform Commission of Jiangxi province on August 30. This is the first wind power project of Datang International in the Jiangxi province and the first new construction built by Datang International Jiangxi Branch (Nanchang, Jiangxi) since its establishment in February 2010.
The windfarm is located in Wucheng Town, in Yongxiu County of Jiujiang City. The project has a total planned capacity of 48 megawatts (MW). The project includes the construction of 24 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2 megawatts (MW), together with 24 box-type transformers, a 110-kilovolt (kV) step-up substation, three 35-kV transmission lines, associated access, service roads and a lakeside port. Total investment in the project will be about $61 million.
On April 8, 2011, Datang International received preliminary approval from the Energy Administration Bureau of Jiangxi province, which offered consent to Datang International to kick off pre-stage preparation for the project. Through the joint efforts of related parties, all supporting documents required for project approval, including the environment impact assessment report, water and soil conservation report, safety pre-assessment report, earthquake safety assessment report, pre-approval for land acquisition and the approval of grid connection scheme from the grid were found in order.
According to the schedule, construction of the project will be kicked off in October this year, and be fully completed by March 2013. Upon completion, the project will be able to produce about 90.21 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year. Compared with conventional coal-fired power, the project could save about 29,800 metric tons of standard coal and reduce the emissions of 83,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide, 711 metric tons of sulfur dioxide, and about 140 metric tons of nitrogen oxides every year.
