EIA Sees Higher Wholesale Power Prices in 2025 - The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) has forecast higher wholesale power prices for 2025 across the country's regional markets, except Texas and the Northwest. Wholesale power prices could average $40 per megawatt hour this year, rising 7% over 2024, the EIA said in a report on Monday. It forecast the average price of electricity for U.S. homes would grow by 2%, not accounting for inflation. The biggest jumps in wholesale prices, with increases of between 30% to 35%, are expected for the Southwest and California, it said. (Reuters)

Diversified Energy to Purchase Maverick in Permian Push - Diversified Energy Company (NYSE:DEC) (Birmingham, Alabama) said on Monday it will buy private equity-owned Maverick Natural Resources (Houston, Texas) for $1.28 billion, including debt, to expand into the oil and gas-rich Permian Basin. The deal was a first step for Diversified Energy to gain access to the Permian Basin, executives said on the conference call. Maverick's asset base is in the Permian Basin while Diversified Energy currently focuses on producing natural gas and liquids from the Appalachia basin and Central Basin. (Reuters)

Atlas Energy to Acquire Moser Energy Systems - Oilfield services firm Atlas Energy Solutions (NYSE:AESI) (Austin, Texas) said on Monday it will acquire privately owned Moser Energy Systems (Evansville, Wyoming) in a cash-and-stock deal worth $220 million. The deal is expected to close before the end of the first quarter of 2025 and be immediately accretive. The transaction is expected to expand Atlas' customer base and strengthen its core operations in the Permian Basin by adding a vital power service offering, the company said. Moser Energy Systems provides energy solutions for oilfield services, commercial, industrial, and military applications. The company's services include development of oilfield generator systems utilizing unprocessed natural gas to reduce flaring. (Reuters)
