Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--EDF Renewables North America (EDF Renewables) (San Diego, California) announced earlier this week it placed 1 gigawatt (GW) of onshore wind, solar and storage in service during 2022, and has "1.2 GW in construction and almost 8 GW in late-stage development." Industrial Info is tracking operational and active projects attributed to the North American clean-energy subsidiary of Electricite de France S.A. (EDF) (Paris).

Of the 1 GW placed in service last year, the company said grid-scale projects accounted for more than 920 megawatts (MW)--which included onshore wind and solar generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS), such as:
  • Arrow Canyon Solar Energy Center in Moapa, Nevada; subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Power Project Database can click here for the project report
  • two projects--King Creek 1 and 2--at its King Creek Windfarm in Texas; see project reports
  • Big Beau BESS in Bakerfield, California; see project report
  • Cypress Wind 2 onshore project in Dunmore, Alberta; see project report
According to the company website, EDF Renewables has developed 29 GW, with 15 GW in the project pipeline. The company expects the 177-MW $300 million Morris Ridge Solar Energy Center in Mount Morris, New York to be operational in 2024, after construction kicked off last month. The plant would utilize photovoltaic (PV) solar panels developed by Canadian Solar Incorporated (NASDAQ:CSIQ) (Guelph, Ontario), with the ability to generate enough renewable power for about 47,000 households, according to the company website. EDF Renewables is co-developing the 245-MW Lake Trout Solar project in Montpelier, Indiana with Geenex Solar (Charlotte, North Carolina); the proposed project is planned to kick off later this year, with operations beginning in 2025.

EDF also expects the 225-MW Livingston Windfarm in Pontiac, Illinois to become operational in 2025. Subscribers can see reports on the Lake Trout and Livingston projects.

In late December, the company announced it sold its 50% ownership interest in five operational windfarms, including Livingston, to Canadian renewable energy company Boralex (Kingsey Falls, Quebec).
