Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Construction of the Arkwright Summit Windfarm recently began when owner EDP Renewables North America LLC (Houston, Texas) awarded White Construction Incorporated (Clinton, Indiana) the general contract. White Construction will be responsible for hiring subcontracts through the duration of the project.
Construction started in early March. It is located in Arkwright, a rural town in western New York State. The project will utilize 36 Vestas wind turbines to generate 80 megawatts (MW), which is enough energy to power more than 30,000 homes and businesses. For details, including contact information and specifications, see Industrial Info's project report.
This project has a total investment value of $160 million and is scheduled to be completed in December. The Arkwright Summit Windfarm will employ more than 200 craft workers at the peak of construction and provide six permanent jobs for the area. EDP Renewables will own and operate the windfarm after it is completed.
