Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking 12 active fabricated metal manufacturing industry projects in the U.S. with a total investment value of $90.1 million, reflecting investments in new plants and equipment. Four of the projects cost over $10 million each.
Fabricated metal products was one of 16 manufacturing industries that was expected to see an increase in revenues in 2016, according to a December 2015 report by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). This increase could be due to fabricators shortening their overall manufacturing time, according to The Fabricator. Advanced machining precision manufacturing machines can make a higher quality product in less time.
The Berghoff Group (Olpe, Germany) plans to build a precision machining manufacturing plant on a 12.42-acre site in Auburn, Alabama, with a total investment value of $30 million. The Berghoff Group manufactures highly complex workpieces, including five-axis and high-speed machining for customers in equipment manufacturing, semiconductor and aerospace industries. The plans call for construction of a 47,194 square-foot plant beginning this fall, followed by a 97,386-square-foot expansion in 2018. The plant is expected to create 100 jobs.
Noble Industries Incorporated (Noblesville, Indiana) is investing $11.5 million in a 52,400 square-foot expansion of the existing 70,000 square-foot fabricating plant in Noblesville. Noble will add CNC press brakes with automatic tool set and changes; robotic welding equipment; panel bending equipment and a tube notch mill machine. Fifty new employees will be added to the expanded operation.
Amerequip Corporation (Kiel, Wisconsin) specializes in designing and building custom fabricated equipment. It is demolishing a former funeral home in Kiel and building a $10 million, 90,000 square-foot custom equipment fabricating plant. Through direct export of CAD data to production lasers, Amerequip designs, engineers and produces the fabricating equipment more quickly and precisely.
