Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The first unit of Jiangsu Huadian Jurong Power Generation Company Limited's (Zhenjiang, Jiangsu) 2,000-megawatt (MW) Phase I coal-fired project was connected to the grid on July 29, 2013, according to an announcement from China Huadian Corporation (Beijing), one of the top five power producers in China, on July 31.
The unit's boiler was ignited on July 28. Through the joint efforts of related parties, the unit reached its rated speed of 3,000 rpm on the morning of July 29, and the related tests, including the excitation system test and simulated synchronization, were then completed one after another. Finally, the unit was connected to the grid on the evening of July 29, 2013.
The Huadian Jurong Power Plant is located at the south bank of the Yangtze River in Xiashu Town, Jurong City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhenjiang City, in the Jiangsu province. As a demonstrative project for other 1,000-MW coal-fired units in China, the project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in July 2011. Construction of the project then kicked off on August 22, 2011.
Jiangsu Electric Power Design Institute (Nanjiang, Jiangsu) is responsible for the design and engineering of the project. Jiangsu Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (Nanjing, Jiangsu) and Jiangsu Electric Power Construction No. 3 Engineering Company (Zhenjiang, Jiangsu) are responsible for the construction and erection of units 1 and 2, respectively. Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai) is responsible for the supply of the turbine generating units for the project.
Presently, related parties are working closely in bringing the unit into commercial operation. According to the schedule, both units of the project will be put into operation by the end of this year.
