G2 BioChem to Begin Construction on Fuel Ethanol Demonstration Project Next Month

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held G2 BioChem (Chatham, Ontario), a subsidiary of Greenfield Ethanol Incorporated (Toronto, Ontario), plans to begin construction on its next-generation, biomass-to-fuel ethanol demonstration plant next month in Chatham.

In a prudent economic move, G2's project will be located alongside Greenfield Ethanol's existing 40 million-gallon-per-year fuel ethanol plant, which has been in operation since 1997. G2 will be spending $140 million on the project, which will process a variety of biomass feedstocks, such as corn cobs, stover, bagasse, sorghum, and wood chips into fuel-grade ethanol. The plant will produce 5 million tons (later to be increased to 2,000 metric tons) of fuel-grade ethanol for less money and in less time.

The project will be on Bloomfield Road in Chatham, Ontario, about 50 miles east of Detroit, Michigan.
