Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In 2007, China's gross domestic product (GDP) reached about $3.4 trillion, an increase of 11.4% compared with the previous year, and the rate also was 0.3 percentage points higher than 2006. The GDP growth rate stayed at 10% or above for five consecutive years, the National Bureau of Statistics of China announced on January 24, 2008.

Investments in fixed assets maintained accelerated growth. Total social investments in fixed assets reached about $1.9 trillion, an increase of 24.8% compared with the previous year, and the growth rate also was 0.9 percentage points higher. Urban investments in fixed assets hit $1.6 trillion, an increase of 25.8% compared with the previous year (in December 2007, urban investments reached $231.85 billion, an increase of 19.6%). Rural investments reached $273.45 billion, up 19.2% compared with the previous year.
Of the total urban investments in fixed assets, investments in the first industry totaled $20.22 billion, up 31.1%; investments in the second industry totaled $703.72 billion, up 29%; and investments in the third industry reached $895.56 billion, up 23.2%.
Investments by region:
East: 21% increase
Central: 34% increase
West: 28.2% increase
Total investments in real estate development reached $348.69 billion, an increase of 30.2% compared with the previous year, and the rate also was 8.4 percentage points higher.
