German Chemical Producers Plan $1 Billion in 2023 Capital Kickoffs
Germany's chemical producers are set to begin construction on more than 80 capital-spending projects in 2023, worth about US$1.7 billion.

The chemical producers set to move forward with the investments include BASF SE (Ludwigshafen, Germany), Lanxess AG (Cologne), Wacker Chemie AG (Munich) and First Ammonia GmbH (Frankfurt).
First Ammonia expects to invest US$270 million and kick off construction of a green hydrogen plant and green ammonia unit addition. Another major investment in the coming year is Wacker's US$100 million spend for the production of green methanol and green hydrogen. Other investments are in the plastic-recycling sector, and for optimizing and modernizing units to reduce carbon emissions.
