August 14, 2025--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Good Earth Green Hydrogen and Ammonia (GEGHA) project, a 50:50 joint venture of Hiringa Energy Pty Ltd (New Zealand) and Sundown Pastoral Company (Moree, New South Wales), has reached a financial close and is expected to begin its construction phase by October. The Australia project is located near Moree, next to the Wathagar cotton ginning facility.
The project includes a 27-megawatt (MW) solar generation facility to be combined with an existing 9-MW array alongside a 41-megawatt-hour (MWh) battery system, with a 15-MW electrolyzer capacity producing green hydrogen and a 16 ton-per-day ammonia plant. The facility is expected to be operational in early 2027. With the green light granted for GEGHA, Hiringa Energy is progressing its planned expansion projects in New South Wales' Riverina and Gwydir regions. The planned facilities will have 50-MW electrolyzer capacity that can produce up to 20,000 tons per year of ammonia. GEGHA develops the pathway for Australia's agricultural sector for lowering carbon footprints and substitute conventional nitrogen fertilizer, a major source for greenhouse gas emissions.
