Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Guangdong Power Engineering Corporation (GPEC) (Guangzhou, Guangdong) won the bid for main construction for Unit 2 of the 2,000-megawatt (MW), grassroot Shouguang Power Plant project. GPEC's parent company, China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), made the announcement on Saturday. The plant is owned by Shenhua Guohua Shouguang Power Generation Company Limited (Shouguang, Shandong).

The Guohua Shouguang plant is located in the Yangkou Industrial Zone in Shouguang City, in northern China's Shandong province. The plant is the largest investment project in the history of Shouguang City, with a total planned capacity of 4,000 MW. Two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, condensing steam turbine generating units, together with two 3,002.8-ton-per-hour pulverized coal-fired boilers, will be built in Phase I.

Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (Xian, Shaanxi) is responsible for the design and engineering of the project. The main construction for Unit 1 was awarded to Shandong Electric Power Construction No.3 Company Limited (SPECO3) (Qingdao, Shandong). The main turbine, generator and boiler (TGB) equipment for the project was awarded to Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai).

The project will include a dual circulation, limestone-plaster, wet process flue gas desulfurization (FGD) device; high-efficiency electrostatic precipitators for dust removal; a low-nitrogen oxide burner, with selective catalyst reduction (SCR) for nitrogen oxide control; and a natural circulation seawater cooling system, with a secondary-circulation cooling system. Both units will share a 240-meter-high chimney furnished with a continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS).

Presently, SPECO3 and GPEC are at work on site preparation. According to the schedule, the first unit will begin commercial operations by the end of 2015, and the second unit will begin operations four months after the commissioning of the first unit.
