One of the major projects planned to kick off in Ohio next quarter is Apex Power Group LLC's (Mooresville, Indiana) 1,650-megawtt (MW) combined-cycle plant near Byesville. The plant will use General Electric (NYSE:GE) equipment. Gemma Power Systems LLC (Mooresville) is providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) on the project, which has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $1.5 billion. The plant is expected to be completed in early 2023. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
The other major natural gas-fired project in Ohio is Clean Energy Future LLC's (Manchester, Massachusetts) planned 955-MW plant near Oregon. The plant will use Siemens equipment. Black & Veatch Incorporated (Overland Park, Kansas) is providing EPC. The project has an estimated TIV of $860 million and is expected to wrap up in the second half of 2021. Wind projects also dominate the region. Among the region's wind projects is Invenergy LLC's planned 175-MW windfarm near Dunkirk, Ohio. The facility will be built on a 19,000-acre site and will use 76 General Electric wind turbine generators. White Construction (Clinton, Indiana) is providing EPC on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $300 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year. In Indiana, Scout Clean Energy (Boulder, Colorado) plans to kick off construction of the 130-MW Bitter Ridge Windfarm. The facility will use 52 General Electric 2.5-MW wind turbine generators. M.A. Mortenson Company (Minneapolis, Minnesota) is providing EPC. The project has an estimated TIV of $150 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Illinois, with more than $1 billion in planned second-quarter project starts, ranks second in terms of the region's project value. A number of small solar farms are being developed in the state. Among these is a 4-MW community solar farm in Woodford County. The project will use single-axis, ground mounted photovoltaic solar panels. TRC Companies Incorporated (Chicago, Illinois) is providing design engineering. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Industrial Info also is tracking more than $110 million in maintenance projects that are planned to kick off in the second quarter in the Great Lakes region. Among these is Exelon Corporation's (NYSE:EXC) (Chicago) refueling outage for the 1,136-MW Unit 2 at its nuclear power facility in Byron, Illinois.
