Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking more than $1 billion worth of projects that are under construction in Idaho. The projects span a range of industrial sectors, including data centers, food and beverage, and mining.

Among Idaho's largest industrial projects currently under construction is Meta Platforms Incorporated's (NASDAQ:META) (Menlo Park, California) grassroot data center in Kuna, near Boise. Work on Phase I of the project is underway and entails constructing two buildings, including a 60,600-square-foot administration building and a 415,500-square-foot data hall. Three subsequent phases of construction, which would bring the campus' total square footage to 960,000 square feet, are in the planning phase. In December, Meta announced it would slow construction on the facility to help redesign it for artificial intelligence workloads but remains committed to its development. Another well-known tech company is wrapping up a project in Boise. Construction on Amazon.com Incorporated's (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington) Project Dove kicked off last summer. The project includes constructing a grassroot distribution center of more than 1 million square feet, including 98 loading docks and 390 trailer-parking stalls. General contractor Okland Construction Incorporated (Tempe, Arizona) is expected to wrap up work in the near future. Subscribers can click here for more details.

Since the explosion in electric vehicle sales, demand for battery metals such as cobalt has risen. Jervois Global Limited (Victoria, Australia) is taking advantage of this strong market and is putting the finishing touches on a grassroot underground cobalt-copper-gold mine and mill near Salmon, Idaho. Jervois acquired the partially completed site in 2019. The facility will include a 1,200-ton-per-day flotation concentrator to produce cobalt-copper-gold concentrate that will be transported to Brazil to extract approximately 1,915 tons per year of cobalt, 2,900 tons per year of copper and 6,700 ounces per year of gold over a seven-year mine life. The facility is in the commissioning phase and is expected to begin ramping up production soon. Other mining projects underway in the state include Bayer AG's (Leverkusen, Germany) grassroot above-ground phosphate mine near Soda Springs. The mine will include two open pits--North and South. The phosphate ore will be transported to a nearby processing plant for elemental phosphorous production to use in making Roundup herbicide products. Construction began in the first half of 2022 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024. The mine has a 40-year estimated life. Subscribers can click here for more information.

The Food & Beverage Industry also is making a strong showing in Idaho. Among the projects in this industry is Agri Beef Company's (Boise) grassroot beef processing plant in Jerome, about 115 miles southeast of Boise. The 240,000-square-foot facility will be able to process up to 500 head of cattle per day. Construction is expected to be completed in the near future. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Food & Beverage Project Database can click here for more details.

Other food and beverage projects in Idaho include Grand Teton Distillery's (Driggs, Idaho) expansion of its distillery in Driggs. The project entails constructing an 8,000-square-foot building addition, including a tasting room, along with new machinery and equipment to increase production capacity to 50,000 cases per year of vodka and whiskey products. Construction is expected to be completed next month. Subscribers can learn more by viewing the project report.
