Bayport Polymers continues commissioning for its new 2.24 billion-pound-per-year Ethane Cracker in Port Arthur, Texas. The plant was originally planned to begin production before the end of 2020. However, after delays due to COVID-19, initial operations are now expected to begin in the first quarter of 2021.

Nova Chemicals is on schedule to perform a 2-week shutdown of its 1.6 billion-pound-per-year E1 ethylene unit in Joffre, Alberta, Canada. The outage is currently expected to begin on September 9.

International
Saudi Polymers Company has rescheduled a 30-day maintenance turnaround of the 2.5 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit at its Jubail Complex in Saudi Arabia. The turnaround, which was initially planned for October 24, is now tentatively scheduled for October 23, 2021. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by November 21, 2021.

SINOPEC SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical on July 19 restarted the 794 million-pound-per-year ethylene glycol (EG) and 88 million-pound-per-year ethylene oxide (EO) units at its Tianjin, China, petrochemicals plant. The units were shut down for a planned turnaround on May 9.

Baotailong New Material on July 16 restarted the 100,000-metric-ton-per-year methanol unit at its Qitaihe, China, methanol plant. The unit was shut down for a planned turnaround on June 28.
