According to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) (Brussels, Belgium), India stands fourth globally for total wind installations, boasting 45 GW of installed onshore wind capacity as of January 2024. This places India as the second-largest wind market in the Asia-Pacific region, following China.

The GWEC forecasts further wind growth in India, with an expected addition of 22.8 GW of onshore wind capacity between 2024 and 2028. Notably, India saw its highest annual installation for onshore wind capacity in 2023, totaling more than 2.8 GW.
