India Plans 50 Gigawatts of Renewable Energy Bids Yearly

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy plans to issue bids for renewable energy capacity of 50 gigawatts (GW) per year from financial year 2023-24 through 2028, which includes at least 10 GW of wind power tenders.

The bids for renewable energy capacity of 50 GW will be issued in the year's four quarters, with at least 15 GW to be bid out each in the first and second quarters, and 10GW each in the remaining two quarters.

The bids may consist of solar, wind, solar-wind hybrid, round-the-clock renewable energy power, with or without storage, or any other combination, based on the assessment of the renewable energy market or as per the directions of the government.

India has committed to achieve about 50% of its cumulative electric power from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources by 2030.
