Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--India's largest refiner, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) (New Delhi), is reviving its expansion projects to help improve refinery margins and reduce emissions and greenhouse gases.
The Mathura refinery has received the nod to expand by 60,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) as part of the Residue Upgrade Project through which it will upgrade its diesel units and reduce sulfur content. Similarly, the Bongaigaon refinery will be expanded from 54,000 BBL/d to 90,000 BBL/d, while the Digboi refinery will expand from 13,000 BBL/d to 20,000 BBL/d. Approval for all the projects is in its early stages. According to current estimates, Digboi is expected to increase its capacity by 2025, whereas the expansion project of the Bongaigaon refinery and the Residue Upgrade Project at the Mathura refinery are expected by 2027.
