India's Chemical Firms to Invest More than US$1 Billion in PTA

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--India's chemical producers are planning to invest about US$1.07 billion in eight capital-spending projects related to purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production, with capacity additions potentially totaling 14.1 billion pounds per year. PTA is primarily used to produce polyester fibers and yarn, but also is used to manufacture plasticizers, liquid crystal polymers and polybutylene terephthalate.

The companies involved currently expect these projects to be completed by end of 2026. India's PTA market is projected to reach US$7.4 billion in value by 2025, backed by increased demand from textile and PET bottle manufacturing.
