India's Gujarat to Harness Wind, Solar Under New Policy

Gujarat aims to meet half of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030. The state's recently announced policy aims to unlock an estimated 36 GW of solar capacity and 143 GW of wind capacity across various categories, ranging from ground-mounted and rooftop solar to wind-hybrid projects.

The policy changes rules and eliminates capacity restrictions for renewable-energy projects. Companies in Gujarat are now free to meet all of their energy requirements from their own renewable facilities, eliminating a 50% cap.
