Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Pipe manufacturer MAN Industries India Limited (BSE:513269) (Mumbai), has secured a $335 million deal in the Middle East. The contract, which involves supplying pipelines for companies in the oil and gas sector, will be executed this fiscal year. MAN Industries is also bidding for projects worth $1 billion and has emerged as the lowest bidder for international and domestic projects valued at $221.4 million. Contract details are expected to be announced soon. With the pipeline contract, the company's order backlog is about $402.6 million.
As a result of the economic crisis, MAN Industries has deferred plans to expand in the U.S. The firm was expected to start up a pipe manufacturing facility in June, according to a Reuters report. With a capacity of 300,000 tons per year, the $100 million facility was planned to be set up on 155 acres of land. K.G. Mantri, Senior Vice President of MAN Industries, said the company will begin work on the facility as the economy slowly begins to improve. MAN Industries hopes to secure contracts in the U.S., India and the Middle East.
The company manufactures carbon steel pipes of large diameters as well as pipelines for high-pressure transmission. The pipes are used in the transmission of water, oil, crude oil, gas and petrochemicals. The company also manufactures longitudinal submerged arc-welded (LSAW) and horizontal submerged arc-welded (HSAW) pipes. The LSAW pipes, with diameters in the range of 16-20 inches, are used extensively in the oil and gas sector. MAN Industries has two LSAW production facilities in India: in Anjar, Gujarat, and Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The Anjar plant has a production capacity of 250,000-600,000 tons per year, and the Pithampur unit can manufacture 200,000-400,000 tons per year. Anjar also has two HSAW manufacturing units with a combined capacity of 175,000 tons per year. The two units produce pipes with diameters of 16-100 inches.
The company's aluminum extrusion division fabricates components for use in the textile, heavy engineering, building and construction, and automobile sectors. The product range from MAN Industries' coating division provides protection and longevity to the operational life of pipelines.
