June 2005 marked the official grand opening of StonePeak Ceramics Incorporated, GranitiFiandre's first subsidiary in America. The company, StonePeak Ceramics, with corporate offices in Chicago, Illinois, is independently operated in the U.S. Graziano Verdi, president of StonePeak's parent company, GranitiFiandre, based in Castellarano, Reggio Emilia, Italy, explained the reasons behind the company's investment in Crossville, Tennessee, and the United States, saying that the marketing and economic conditions were perfect for the company to build a plant in the U.S.

The new factory started limited production in early March 2005, with an initial investment of more than $50 million. The plant's approximately 650,000 square feet include facilities that can produce over six million square feet of ceramic tile at full capacity production. Production at this new plant is exclusively dedicated to the unique American market, its needs and styles. The plant will sustain a work force of 150.

The plant is one of the biggest and is considered one of the most technologically advanced factories in the U.S., utilizing mainly Italian technology. The project was designed, engineered, and completed by the GranitiFiandre Group itself.
