Japan's JFE Steel to Convert Kurashiki Blast Furnace to EAF
JFE Steel Corporation plans to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 30% by fiscal 2030 and be carbon neutral by fiscal 2050, and is converting the no. 2 blast furnace in its Kurashiki Integrated Steel Mill into a large electric arc furnace (EAF)

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--JFE Steel Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) plans to establish low-carbon technologies on a multi-track basis. In planning to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 30% by fiscal 2030 and be carbon neutral by fiscal 2050, the No. 2 Blast Furnace in its Kurashiki Integrated Steel Mill will be converted into a large electric arc furnace (EAF). The EAF plans to start operation in 2027.
