Kraft Foods to Build Mega Warehouse-Distribution Center in Georgia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Kraft Foods Incorporated (NYSE:KFT) (Northfield, Illinois) is proceeding with plans to build a 960,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility in Union City, Georgia. Kraft signed an agreement with Majestic Realty to develop and deliver a build-to-suit facility on a 192-acre site in a master-planned industrial business park south of Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Construction is scheduled to begin this spring, and the facility is to be operational by the end of this year. Commerce Construction Company, L.P., an affiliate of Majestic Realty, has design-build responsibilities for the facility and will utilize a host of local and regional suppliers and subcontractors to complete Kraft's newest distribution facility.

The property will feature LEED-certified and sustainable amenities. The building will include state-of-the-art cooler and freezer systems, dry-food storage areas, and the availability for future expansion on either side of the property.

Kraft Foods is the second-largest food company in the world, with annual revenue of $42 billion.
