Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)-- The Manuel Belgrano thermoelectric plant is currently undergoing its final construction phase and is expected to go into operation on March 20, 2008, in open-cycle mode, plant authorities revealed to Industrial Info. Phase I of the project, constructed and operated by independent power producer Termoelectrica Manuel Belgrano S.A., will supply about 400 megawatts (MW) of electricity and a total of 827 MW in combined-cycle mode by the first trimester of 2009.
The Siemens-led consortium will have the participation of Duro Felguera and Seasa, and SENER which will carry out purchasing and tracking activities. The combined cycle will use a 2x2x1 configuration following the Siemens standard SCC5-4000F 2x1 (two gas turbines plus two recuperation boilers and a steam turbine), and will be fed with natural gas or diesel fuel from a fuel storage facility built in the plant's surrounding area.
The Manuel Belgrano power facility, along with the Jose de San Martin plant in Timbues, Rosario Province, will make an important contribution to meet Argentina's increasing demand for power.
