Myanmar's cement sector is preparing to begin construction on a string of projects by the end of 2021 to cope with rising demand. This trend is driven by Myanmar's ambitious plans to develop its infrastructure.
Eight capacity-expansion projects, worth a total of about $1.7 billion, are expected to begin construction in Myanmar starting in December 2020 and running through early 2021, as the country opens up its construction-material developers to foreign investment.
Myanmar also plans to introduce new regulations later this year that would attract more international cement manufacturers, in order to reduce the country's dependence on expensive cement imports by 2025.
