U.S. Gives NFG More Time to Complete Northern Access Natural Gas Pipeline
- U.S. regulators have given National Fuel Gas Company (NFG) (Williamsville, New York) more time to build its proposed Northern Access natural gas pipeline project in Pennsylvania and New York. The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Wednesday approved NFG's January request for a 35-month extension to build the project by December 2024. Regulator Bars Restart of Freeport LNG Plant Amid Unsafe Conditions
- The U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) said it found unsafe conditions at the Freeport liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Texas and will not allow owner Freeport LNG (Houston, Texas) to restart the plant until an outside analysis is complete. The plant suffered an explosion on June 8. The preliminary finding from PHMSA indicated a restart could not happen before September at least. Some Norwegian Oil Workers to Strike from July 5
- Seventy-four Norwegian offshore oil workers at Equinor's (NYSE:EQNR) (Stavanger, Norway) Gudrun, Oseberg South and Oseberg East platforms will go on strike from July 5, the Lederne trade union said on Thursday, likely shutting about 4% of Norway's oil production. Lederne, which negotiates on behalf of 1,300 members, said the planned strike would have virtually no impact on gas output, at a time of tight supply in Europe, because the affected platforms almost exclusively produce oil.
