Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Northern California Power Agency (NCPA) (Roseville, California) has begun construction on the $452 million, 280-megawatt (MW) Lodi Energy Center (LEC) in Lodi, California.
Civil site preparation for the project commenced earlier this month. The project is scheduled to be completed and ready to begin full commercial operation by the summer of 2012. It will consist of constructing a one-on-one combined-cycle power island, which will feature a single, natural gas-fired, 185-MW Siemens Westinghouse SGT6-5000F combustion-turbine generator, which will be equipped with an evaporative cooling system to increase the output capacity; a triple-pressure heat-recovery steam generator (HRSG); and a 90-MW SST-900RH (condensing) model steam-turbine generator that also will be provided by Siemens Westinghouse.
State-of-the-art air emissions reduction technology will be utilized for the new project, such as a selective catalytic-reduction (SCR) system that uses ammonia injection and catalytic oxidation to control CO2 emissions for the reduction of nitrous-oxide emissions. Siemens Flex Plant 30 quick-start technology also will be a feature of the project.
Worley Parsons Group Incorporated (Folsom, California) provided the engineering services for the project. ARB Incorporated (Pittsburg, California) will act as the general contractor throughout the duration of construction for the project.
