Odfjell Begins Chemical Terminal Expansion Construction in Texas

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)-- Odfjell Terminals Houston LP (OTC:ODFJK.PK) ) (Seabrook, Texas) has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract to American Tank and Vessel Incorporated for carbon steel tanks in order to increase storage capacity at its existing Seabrook chemical-storage terminal.

The construction of the storage terminal tank additions began in the summer and consists of one 40,000 barrel, three 50,000 barrel and two 60,000 barrel carbon steel tanks for about $8 million. The new tanks will store chemical products reflecting their customers’ expectations and demands for increased activity and a tighter market. Construction is scheduled to be completed by mid-2008. The project adds storage capacity of 1.7 million barrels in 92 existing tanks, which includes 270,500 barrels of stainless steel storage.

Including the Odfjell expansion, Industrial Info is tracking 47 projects worth an estimated $162 million scheduled to begin construction in North America beginning in 2007 and beyond. If crude oil and refined petroleum projects are included in the total, the proposed capital investment leaps $4.3 billion, and the total number of projects in North America will climb to 320.
