The Food & Beverage Industry is one of the industries with increased project activity in Ohio. Family-owned grocery retailer Meijer (Grand Rapids, Michigan) recently announced that it would build a $100 million dairy near a distribution center in Tipp City, Ohio. The plant will be built in three phases to include milk, juice, yogurt and ice cream. This will be the company's second dairy facility. Meijer operates a dairy in Holland, Michigan.

Ketchup king HJ Heinz Company (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) will spend more than $40 million on two separate projects in Ohio. In Massilon, Ohio, the company is consolidating frozen food manufacturing operations, and in Fremont, Ohio, the company will expand ketchup-manufacturing capacity. The expansions are part of a restructuring of the company since it was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRKA) and 3G Capital last June.

After Ohio, Illinois is second with $28.2 billion and Indiana is third with $20.9 billion, followed by Michigan with $17.9 billion, Kentucky with $17.5 billion, and Wisconsin with $11 billion.
