Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Oneida Seven Generations Corporation (De Pere, Wisconsin) plans to construct a biogas-fired power generating station in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Oneida wants to erect a $24 million facility to house a 5-megawatt power generating station. The complex will divert 150 tons of municipal waste per day from the landfill and convert it into biogas, which will be used to power the electrical generator. The power will be sold to Wisconsin Public Service (Green Bay, Wisconsin) to power up to 4,000 homes. In February, the Green Bay Planning Commission unanimously approved a conditional-use permit to Oneida for the plant. However, the company is still awaiting permitting from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Alliance Construction and Design Incorporated (De Pere) has been selected as the general contractor.
The proposed power station will be located on tribal-owned land on Hurlbut Street in a general industrial zone in Green Bay and will have about 30 employees.
