Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Lewis Creek Power Station in Willis, Texas, has delayed returning the 271-megawatt (MW) Unit 2 online, because additional repairs are needed. The plant is owned by Entergy Texas Incorporated (Beaumont Texas), a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation (NYSE:ETR) (New Orleans, Louisiana).

The unit was taken offline on October 15 for a planned preventative turbine-boiler maintenance outage. The primary focal point during the outage was to work on the turbine's boiler feed pump element. Officials told Industrial Info that while working on the pump, they experienced a problem when some six-inch bolt threads were stripped from the turbine's boiler feed pump when the bolts were being tightened.

Plant officials stated that the unit outage was supposed to be short, but because of the extended repairs, they are now hoping to have the unit returned online by Monday, October 25, if there are no other delays.

The Lewis Creek station has two generating units. Unit 1 began operations in 1970, and Unit 2 in 1971. At full load, the station's total generating capacity is 542 MW.
