Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--An expert panel has approved the preliminary feasibility study for the 700-megawatt (MW) Huaneng Yangqu coal-fired cogeneration power project in China, according to a key engineering firm.
The expert panel, under the Development and Reform Commission of Shanxi Province, approved the report by Shanxi Electric Power Exploration & Design Institute (SEPDI) (Taiyuan, Shanxi), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), the engineering firm announced on January 22.
The expert panel unanimously approved the report, which contained information on market analysis, the plant site, water source, coal source, ash disposal, the general layout and the installed capacity.
The Huaneng Yangqu coal-fired cogeneration project, located in Quyang County of Taiyuan City, ultimately would have four 350-MW, coal-fired units. The initial stage of the project would include two supercritical, coal-fired cogeneration units, together with a high-efficiency electrostatic dust-removal device, a flue-gas desulfurization device, and selective catalyst reduction (SCR) and low-NOx burners for NOx control. As one of the heat supply sources in the Total Clean Heat Supply Action Plan by the government of Taiyuan City in 2013, the project will improve environmental quality and promote the regional economy, as well as upstream and downstream industrial development in Taiyuan.
As reported, Huaneng Shanxi Branch Company (Taiyuan, Shanxi) will invest in the project. As a regional subsidiary of China Huaneng Group (Beijing) in Shanxi, Huaneng Shanxi Branch is also working on the pre-stage preparation of a 2,000-MW, coal-fired power project in Shanying County.
