Peru's Empresa de Generación Arequipa Reschedules Maintenance Outages at Pisco Power Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--Empresa de Generación Arequipa SA (Arequipa, Peru) has rescheduled minor maintenance outages that were planned to be performed this month at its Pisco thermoelectric power plant in the community of Ica in Pisco.

The power plant, which began commercial operations in the third quarter of 2010, is equipped with two 40-megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired MS6001B Alstom combustion turbines, running in simple cycle, that were manufactured under General Electric (NYSE:GE) (GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) license, each with a 52-megavolt-ampere (MVA) air cooled Alstom SA (EPA:ALO) (Paris, France) generator.

The combustion inspections on both combustion turbines were rescheduled to July of this year, because the units have not reached the necessary operational hours for this maintenance. The inspections should each last seven days and will include the revision of fuel nozzles, combustors, crossfire tubes, and U-ducts.

In February, Empresa de Generación Arequipa plans to conduct a boroscope inspection on the plant's two units and is currently looking for a service provider for this project.

Empresa de Generación Arequipa owns and operates the 55-MW Chilina and the 32-MW Mollendo thermo power plants. It also owns and operates the 174-MW Charcani hydro complex.

Empresa de Generación Arequipa plans to increase its installed generation capacity in the future by building the 302-MW Soro and Llatica and the 504-MW Lluclla hydropower complexes.
