Phase II of China Datang's Sige Windfarm Receives Final Approval

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Phase II of Datang Sige Wind Power Company Limited's (Panxian, Guizhou) Sige Windfarm received final approval from the Energy Administration of Guizhou Province recently. This is the second windfarm to receive approval for the Guangxi branch of China Datang Corporation, following receiving approval for Phase I of Sige Windfarm in 2011, China Datang Corporation announced on January 13.

The Datang Sige Windfarm is located in Panxian County of Guizhou province. The windfarm has a total planned capacity of 135 megawatts (MW), to be built in three phases. Construction of Phase I was kicked off in March 2010. Phase II of the windfarm is located at the Niupeng Liangzi Hills in Pingdi Xiang of Panxian County, which consists of mainly of flat and open slopes in the elevation between 2200 to 2780 meters above the sea level. The project plans to build 19 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.5 MW. The total installed capacity of the windfarm will be 47.5 MW. No individual step-up substation will be built in the current stage, and all wind turbines in the project will be connected to the 110-kilovolt (kV) substation built in Phase I, and then be connected to the Guizhou grid via the Baiguo 110-kV substation and one 110-kV transmission line in Panxian County.

As reported, the project will have annual runtime of 2,054 hours and will be able to supply about 97.56 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to the grid every year upon completion. Compared with a conventional coal-fired power plant, the project could save about 32,200 metric tons of standard coal every year and reduce the emission of pollutants such as carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, as well as waste water to the river. The project will not only provide sound economic benefits, but also will have sound social benefit in energy conservation and environmental protection.
