Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated Houston, Texas). Privately-held cold storage service provider Preferred Freezer Services (Jersey City, New Jersey) is building a new cold storage facility in Newark, New Jersey. This will be the largest facility of the company's thirteen operating facilities.
Plans call for nearly eight million cubic feet of freezer space with 60-foot high ceilings and 51-foot tall by 300-foot long storage racking encompassing about 26 isles of storage. Additional building construction also includes about 36,000 square feet of refrigerated dock space and a new 21,600 square foot corporate office building.
The company selected Campanelli Companies (Braintree, Massachusetts) as the design-build contractor for the estimated $26 million project. Construction is on a fast-track construction schedule, with an anticipated move-in date scheduled for November of 2005.
Preferred's newest facility is strategically located within minutes of Port Newark, which occupies the center of the Mid-Atlantic transportation hub. Surrounded by the nation's most extensive superhighway infrastructure, the location will enable access to the country's most condensed consumer marketplace.
Preferred Freezer Services was founded in 1989 from a 1.3 million cubic foot freezer warehouse in Perth Amboy, Jersey, with 25 employees and $3.6 million in annual revenues. Today, the company operates twelve warehouses, employs over 400 people, and has annual revenues exceeding $100 million.
