Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The preliminary feasibility study report for the Huaneng Hefei gas-fired cogeneration project, the first gas-fired cogeneration power project in Anhui, passed an examination from an expert panel organized by China International Engineering Consultancy Corporation (Beijing) on January 31, 2013, according to an announcement from Anhui Electric Power Design Institute (AEPDI) (Hefei, Anhui), a regional subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), on February 4, 2013.
The project, which occupies an area of about 10 hectares at the cross of Baiyanwan Road and Fangxing Avenue in the Hefei Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, is the first gas-fired cogeneration power project in Anhui. The project is planned to have two 9F-class, gas-fired, combined-cycle units, each of 400 megawatts (MW), in the initial stage. As a national high-tech development zone, Hefei Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone has a well-established industry with a high demand on heat load, including the electronic and information, integrated optical, electrical and mechanical, new energy, biological medicine, and new materials industries.
Early in August 2012, China Huaneng Group (Beijing) received preliminary approval from the Energy Administration of the Anhui province to perform pre-stage preparation for the project. After that, AEPDI was mandated by China Huaneng Group to prepare the feasibility study report. On November 23, 2012, China Huaneng Group Anhui Branch (Hefei, Anhui) signed the development agreement with the Administration Committee of Hefei Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone. The preliminary feasibility study report passed the examination smoothly, meaning that the project has achieved an important milestone.
As reported, the project will be furnished with two 400-MW, combined-cycle units with improved 9F-class combustion turbines, reheating natural circulation heat recovery steam generators, and extraction condensing steam turbines. The total investment in the project will be about $450 million. According to the schedule, the project will be ready to supply steam for key users in the hi-tech industrial development zone by the end of 2014. Upon completion, the project will be able to generate about 4.45 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity and supply about 1.275 million metric tons of steam for its users every year.
