Renewable Energy Group Completes Capacity Increase at Newton, Iowa Biodiesel Plant

Renewable Energy Group Incorporated (NASDAQ:REGI) (Ames, Iowa) has completed a capacity increase at the REG Newton LLC (Newton, Iowa) biodiesel plant, located in Newton, Iowa.

The plant now has a nameplate capacity of 30 million gallons per year of biodiesel, using high and low free fatty acid feedstocks. The company invested more than $15 million in equipment to increase fermentation and processing capacity. The project also added storage tanks that increase storage capacity by 2 million gallons to handle the additional biodiesel.

The project started in February and went operational in November. It was completed four months ahead of schedule.

REG has additional plans to increase capacity of its 45 million gallon-per-year plant, located in Danville, Illinois. REG Danville LLC plans to start construction on the expansion in the spring of 2015.
