Rock Tenn Seeks Contractor for $70 Million Boiler Project at Alabama Pulp and Paper Mill

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Rock Tenn Company (NYSE:RKT) (Norcross, Georgia) soon will award a contract to install and erect a new bubbling fluidized-bed (BFB) boiler at a pulp and paper mill in Demopolis, Alabama.

The $70 million capital investment calls for a 350,000-pound-per-hour boiler, which will be supplied by Valmet. The new boiler will replace two 60-year-old boilers.

The boiler is scheduled for start-up in the first quarter of 2016.

Rock Tenn expects to award the contract by November. The contract also will require the awarded firm or partnership to modify the building that will house the boiler and start it up.

AMEC (London, England) is executing detailed engineering for the project.
