Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking more than $1.8 billion in Industrial Manufacturing projects that are planned to kick off in the Rocky Mountains market region in third-quarter 2019. The region includes Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Thanks to some large data center projects, Arizona leads the region in terms of project value, with $895 million in planned project starts.

Among the largest projects planned to kick off in the region in the upcoming quarter is a couple of data center projects in Goodyear, Arizona, on the outskirts of Phoenix. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) (Redmond, Washington) will construct a 245,000-square-foot data technology command center on its campus. Construction is set to kick off this summer and take about two years to complete. Also in Goodyear, Vantage Data Centers (Santa Clara, California) will begin construction on a 230,000-square-foot building for part of a planned 1 million-square-foot campus. The facility will have 35 megawatts of power, and customizable offices and workspaces to provide data colocation services. Also joining the region's data center activity, Facebook Incorporated (NASDAQ:FB) (Menlo Park, California) will be constructing a third building at its campus in Los Lunas, New Mexico, to expand its data services. General Contractor Fortis Construction Incorporated (Portland, Oregon) will kick off construction this summer, and the project should take about a year to complete. On the transportation front, in Billings, Montana, the Logan International Airport will expand an existing terminal building and install supporting equipment to increase airport capacity. The project involves constructing an expanded check-in area, additional gates, new passenger loading bridges and baggage-handling equipment. In Nevada, the Las Vegas Convention Center will expand its people mover, which runs under the center. The people mover will carry people in autonomous electric vehicles on a roughly one-mile loop housed within a concrete tunnel that is 12 feet in diameter. Among these is Prologis' (Cerritos, California) planned construction of a grassroot warehouse facility in McCarran, Nevada, near Reno. The 500,000-square-foot building will feature 85 dock doors and 95 trailer stalls. Construction on the $28 million project is set to begin this summer and be completed in first-quarter 2020.
