Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Unit 2 of State Development and Investment Corporation's (SDIC) (Beijing) Yining Cogeneration Power Plant passed a 168-hour, full-load, continuous trial operation on January 24, 2013. SDIC's 660-megawatt (MW) Yining Cogeneration Power Expansion Project is in full operation ahead of schedule, according to an announcement from Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (Hefei, Anhui), the project contractor and a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (Beijing), on January 28, 2013.
As reported, the boiler of Unit 2 was ignited on January 8, 2013, and was connected to the grid on January 15, 2013. The full-load trial operation kicked off on January 17, 2013, during which various technical indicators of the unit were found to be at "sound and excellent" levels, and the maximum load under stable operating conditions reached 334.6 MW. All protection instruments and automation devices are in operation.
The SDIC Yining Cogeneration Power Plant, initially built in 1958, had six 54-MW cogeneration units in operation prior to the construction of the expansion project. The project, furnished with two 330-MW, coal-fired, air-cooling units, together with associated heat supply pipelines, is invested and operated by SDIC Yili Energy Development Company Limited (Yining, Xinjiang), a joint venture of SDIC Huajing Power Holdings Company Limited (SHA:600886) and SDIC Coal Company (Beijing), two subsidiaries of SDIC. Xinjiang Electric Power Design Institute (Urumqi, Xinjiang) is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
In September 2011, the project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. Construction of the project kicked off in the same month. Prior to the commissioning of Unit 2, Unit 1 of the project was put into operation on December 29, 2012.
As a key project listed in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) of the Yili prefecture of the Xinjiang autonomous region and the first large-scale modern power plant in Yili, the project not only conserves energy and reduces emissions, but also promotes local economic development and living standards. Under full operation, the project will replace the existing six small-size, coal-fired units in the plant and 123 coal-fired small boilers scattered in its service area.
