Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--Germany's leading wind turbine manufacturer Senvion SE (FWB: RPW) (Hamburg, Germany) bagged a contract from Enertrag France SARL (Cergy, France) of supplying 27 wind turbine generator (WTG) sets with a total capacity of 54.45-megawatt (MW) for four upcoming windfarms in Northern France.
The windfarms are being developed with an investment of 116 million in the Champagne-Ardenne and Picardie regions of the country. The windfarms are expected to commence power generation by the second quarter of 2015.
As per the terms of the contract signed with Enertrag, Senvion will supply nine "MM92" wind turbine generator (WTG) sets with 92-meter rotor diameters for the Champagne-Ardenne windfarm project, while another 18 "MM100" WTGs with 104-meter rotor diameter will be supplied to windfarms in the Picardie region.
According to Senvion, the delivery and erection of the wind turbines are expected to begin from the third quarter of 2014. The company is also responsible for operation and maintenance of the plants for a period of five years from the date of commencement of generation. Once commissioned, the four wind power stations will produce nearly 152-million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year, which could supply power to more than 48,000 households in the region.
Senvion SE was founded in 2001, and was acquired by Suzlon Energy Limited (BSE: 532667) (Pune, India) in December 2009. Senvion manufactures wide range of WTGs between 1.5 MW to 6.15 MW. Senvion is present in major markets for wind energy in France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, U K and Greece as well as in Asian-Oceania region countries such as Japan, China, India and Australia.
Enertrag France SARL (Cergy, France), a subsidiary of Enertrag AG (Dauerthal, Germany), founded in 2002, is specialized in the production of electricity using only renewable energy, mainly wind power. The company has about 198 MW of installed capacity in France. Enertrag AG has 950-MW installed capacity in all over Europe while another 500 MW in projects are under various phases of implementation.
