Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Shandong Electric Power Construction No. 2 Company (SEPCO2) (Jinan, Shandong) signed the construction and erection contract for the balance of plant (BOP) for Huaneng Laiwu Power Plant's 2,000-megawatt (MW) expansion project with Huaneng Shandong Power Generation Company Limited (Jinan, Shandong), the regional subsidiary of China Huaneng Group, in Shandong province on July 2, 2013, according to an announcement from SEPCO2 on July 3.
According to the contract, SEPCO2 will be responsible for Bid 4 (construction of BOP) and Bid 5 (erection of BOP) for Huaneng Laiwu Power Plant's addition of two 1,000-MW units (6 and 7), mainly including the construction and erection of the step-up substation, coal storage, coal-conveying system, coal-unloading system, ash-storage system, circulating pump room, fuel-oil pump room, chemical water system, sewage processing plant, draining pump room, ammonia system, industrial wastewater storage, hydrogen station, and air-compressor system, as well as various access roads, cable ditches, piping racks and dykes.
The Huaneng Laiwu Power Plant expansion is a key project in the 12th five-year plan (2011-15) for Shandong province. The project plans to have two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, secondary intermediate, reheating, coal-fired units, with a total investment of about $1.3 billion. The first unit received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in June 2012. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in October 2012.
The main construction work for the project is divided into six bids, including Bid 1 for the powerhouse construction of units 6 and 7; Bid 2 for the erection of Unit 6; Bid 3 for the erection of Unit 7; and Bid 6 for the chimney and cooling tower. As reported, Bid 1 and Bid 2 were awarded to Shandong Electric Power Construction No.1 Company (SEPCO1) (Jinan, Shandong). Bid 3 was awarded to Guangdong Thermal Power Engineering Corporation (Guangzhou, Guangdong), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing). Bid 6 was awarded to Henan No. 2 Construction Group Company Limited (Zhengzhou, Henan).
