Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) is tracking $2.77 billion in planned Power Industry project starts in second-quarter 2019 in Texas. The state is the leading wind power producer in the U.S., and wind projects dominate activity to the tune of $1.94 billion in planned projects.
Among the top wind power projects planned to kick off in the quarter is Enel Green Power North America's (Andover, Massachusetts) High Lonesome Wind project near Ozona in West Texas. The facility will have a generating capacity of 211 megawatts (MW) via 66 General Electric (NYSE:GE) 3.2-MW wind turbine generators. Construction is set to begin soon, with completion by the end of the year. The project has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $360 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Further north, in Gilliland, Texas, Taaleri Group (Helsinki, Finland) is planning to construct the 278-MW Truscott-Gilliland East Windfarm. The facility will use 66 4.2-MW Senvion wind turbine generators. NorthRenew Energy (Becket, Massachusetts) is providing inspection/validation/startup services on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $350 million. Construction will take about one year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
In the Texas Panhandle near Muleshoe, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (Copenhagen, Denmark) is preparing to construct a 200-MW unit addition at its Blue Cloud Windfarm. The project entails constructing 58 Vestas wind turbine generators. The project is being developed with TriGlobal Energy (Dallas, Texas) and has an estimated TIV of $330 million. The project should take about a year to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
While wind dominates Texas' project landscape, Industrial Info also is tracking some high-dollar solar projects that are set to begin in the second quarter. For more on some of these, see March 15, 2019, article - California, Texas Continue to Lead U.S. Solar Growth in 2019, with $1.4 Billion in Kickoffs for Second Quarter.
