Top of the World Windfarm Brought Online in Wyoming

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Duke Energy has brought a fourth windfarm online. Located in Casper, Wyoming, the Top of the World windfarm recently began generating renewable energy for commercial use. Top of the World consists of 110 wind turbines and has a nameplate capacity of 200 megawatts (MW).

Two wind turbine manufacturers were involved in supplying turbine generator sets. Siemens (NYSE:SI) provided 44 wind turbines, at 2.3 MW each, for a total of 101.2 MW. General Electric (NYSE:GE) provided 66 wind turbines, at 1.5 MW each, for a maximum capacity of 99 MW.

Wanzek Construction (Fargo, North Dakota) was awarded the contract for balance of plant. PacifiCorp (Portland, Oregon) has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement to buy the electricity generated from these wind turbines.
