Turning On Electric Power 2006
Exhibitors from all over the world are flying in to promote their services and equipment to peers in the industry.
Released Wednesday, May 03, 2006
Reported by Chris Easley, Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). The Electric Power 2006 Tradeshow at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia kicked off yesterday. Exhibitors from all over the world are flying in to promote their services and equipment to peers in the industry. Wind farms, hydroelectric, LNG and solar are the renewable (green) energy producers and I am looking forward to seeing their advances in technology and prospectus for the future, at least the next five years. Of course the traditional power players will be in attendance, including oil, gas and coal energy-based producers, as well turbine manufacturers, engineering & construction contractors and consultants.
My morning began as any morning does with me repeatedly hitting the snooze button until I felt the adrenalin rush through my body telling me to GET UP! I was not making my hour plus drive into the office today, but rather catching a flight for my commute and airplanes dont wait on you like your own vehicle. I showered and finished some last minute packing, putting clothes in, then taking some out, until I had the optimum weight suitcase that I wanted to carry. I kissed my wife and three-year-old son goodbye and headed out the door.
We should touch down in Atlanta around 1:30 PM Eastern time (*note to self: dont forget to set watch forward one hour) and hit the ground running. After we drop our bags off at the Omni Hotel, we will head toward the Georgia World Congress Center and physically inspect the booth prior to the shows opening at 3:00 PM. Any last minute needs will horridly be taken care of or brushed off. These are the only two decisions you can make at zero hour. The booth is to be decked out with plasma screens, flat screen monitors, color printers, models, refreshments and yes, salesmen, with ambient background music personally selected by Ed Lewis, President and CEO of Industrial Info Resources and myself.
After working the show today, meeting clients, talking with prospective clients and working in a few interviews, Im sure 7:00 PM wont come fast enough. Tomorrow is the marathon we have been training for during the past two months. Industrial Info is throwing a client appreciation gala at the World of Coca Cola Museum with enticing elixirs, magnificent models, magical magicians and tasty treats. Over 500 have already RSVPd and another 300 are expected. I have been asked to work as liaison (roadie and soundman) for the band that will play the shindig since I have experience in that particular field. Over twenty employees are being shipped to Atlanta and no expense has been spared. Even our Internet radio host, Crazy Al is flying in from the Motor City.
And so begins three days of meeting, greeting and spreading the word of Industrial Info Resources.
