Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A series of high-profile pipeline projects across the major natural gas-producing regions of the U.S. are set to begin in the fourth quarter, much of it driven by the demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports along the U.S. Gulf Coast. Industrial Info is tracking more than $5.4 billion worth of natural gas pipeline projects across the U.S. that are set to begin construction in the fourth quarter, about 75% of which is attributed to projects in Texas and Louisiana.

Several of the highest-valued pipelines set to begin construction in the coming months will supply feedstock to facilities that are designed to process and export LNG. One of the most anticipated is from an emerging powerhouse in this market: Woodside Energy Group (Perth, Australia), which in April made a final investment decision (FID) on its Louisiana LNG project in Sulphur, Louisiana. The company plans to supply the complex with dual pipelines: the 36.9-mile Line 200 and the 30.8-mile Line 300, which will originate at the Indian Bayou Natural Gas Compressor Station in Ragley, Louisiana, and terminate at or near the export facility.

The lines are designed to transport up to 4.6 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Oil & Gas Pipeline Project Database can read detailed reports on Line 200, Line 300 and the Indian Bayou station.

In June, Woodside sold a 40% interest in Louisiana LNG to global investment firm Stonepeak (New York, New York), in exchange for $5.7 billion in capital for the project. The first batch of LNG available for export is expected by 2029; the facility's full export potential could be as high as 5.2 million tons per annum. Another pipeline project oriented toward supplying a major LNG facility comes from an established player: Enbridge Incorporated (Calgary, Alberta), which is developing the Rio Bravo Pipeline Project in southern Texas. The dual line, which is to be built in two phases, will carry up to 4.5 billion cubic feet per day of gas from the Agua Dulce Hub area near Kleberg County, Texas, to interconnect with NextDecade's (Houston, Texas) Rio Grande LNG Liquefaction and Export Terminal in Brownsville, Texas. It will be supported by compressor stations near Kingsville, which is adjacent to Agua Dulce, and in Armstrong and Brownsville.

Enbridge is targeting an in-service date for Rio Bravo in the second half of 2026, but numerous factors could delay the projected kickoff or completion dates. Subscribers can learn more from detailed project reports on Phase I and Phase II of the line, as well as the compressor stations at Kingsville, Armstrong and Brownsville, and can click here for a full list of reports related to Rio Grande LNG.

North American developer TC Energy Corporation (Calgary), formerly Trans Canada, is preparing to begin work on its Bison Xpress project in North Dakota, which will improve base system reliability on the 302-mile Bison Pipeline. Although the line originates in Wyoming and runs through southeastern Montana, the bulk is in North Dakota, where it connects with TC Energy's Northern Border Pipeline System. TC will perform modifications and additions at:
