The completion of two natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plants in Pennsylvania contributes substantially to estimated project completions to the region. Panda Power Funds' (Dallas, Texas) 829-megawatt (MW) Patriot power plant near Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is set for completion by the middle of the year, and the company's 829-MW Liberty plant in Bradford County, is set for completion this spring. The projects have a combined estimated total investment value of $1.65 billion.
In New Jersey, two distribution center projects with a combined value of $450 million help put the Industrial Manufacturing Industry in second position in terms of the value of planned project completions for the region. Grainger Industrial Supply Incorporated (Lake Forest, Illinois) plans to complete a 1.3 million-square-foot distribution in Bordentown by the end of May. In Carteret, New Jersey, Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) plans to complete $200 million of renovation work on its existing 1.06 million-square-foot distribution center by the end of the quarter.
Rounding out the top three industries in terms of the value of completions in the region is the Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry, led by a renovation of a science facility at West Point Military Academy in New York. The $105 million project kicked off in early 2012 and is expected to be completed by the end of June this year.
While the larger capital projects often take the spotlight, Industrial Info also is tracking 60 maintenance projects valued at nearly $220 million that are planned to be completed in the region between April and June. Chief among these are refueling outages at nuclear power plants, including Exelon Corporation's (NYSE:EXC) (Chicago, Illinois) Unit 1 refueling outage at its nuclear power station in Limerick, Pennsylvania. The outage began in March and was wrapped up in mid-April. Together, nuclear refueling outages account for more than $72 million of the project completions tracked by Industrial Info in the region in the second quarter.
Detailed information on these and other industrial projects occurring throughout the world can be found in Industrial Info's Global Project Database.
