The data center segment of the industry is led by two projects from Vantage Data Centers (Santa Clara, California) in California and Washington. In Santa Clara, Vantage will construct a four-story building with customizable offices and workspaces to provide data colocation services. CAC Architects (San Francisco, California) is providing design-engineering services for the project, which is expected to kick off this summer and take about a year to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In Quincy, Washington, about 150 miles east of Seattle, Vantage will construct a second data center featuring hydroelectric power. The $150 million project is expected to be completed before the end of this year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

United Parcel Service Incorporated (NYSE:UPS) (UPS) (Sandy Springs, Georgia) is expanding its footprint in the region with projects in California and Alaska. In Anchorage, Alaska, UPS will construct a new flight operations and warehouse expansion. The project entails a 1.3 million-square-foot building to help optimize ground and air networks and provide storage for the existing distribution center. The $110 million project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

UPS also will expand its processing hub in Richmond, California, in the upcoming quarter. Architect Ware Malcomb (Pleasanton, California) will assist in the construction of a 350,000-square-foot building addition to expand regional package processing and distribution operations. The project is expected to kick off early in the quarter and be completed in the first half of 2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

A few microgrid projects also feature in the region's upcoming project activity. At the Fort Hunter Liggett Army Base in California, engineering, procurement and construction company Ameresco Incorporated (Framingham, Massachusetts) will construct a 13-MW power system featuring solar power and a battery energy storage system. The system will help provide independent energy to the base and help it implement its net-zero emissions goals. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Projects at airports also are high in the region's project activity. In California, the Los Angeles International Airport will build the new Concourse 0, a 660,000-square-foot facility that will feature 11 aircraft gates to help accommodate growth in international operations. The project is expected to be completed in first-quarter 2023. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In Washington, the Spokane International Airport will perform construction that includes expanding the security checkpoints at terminals A and B, remodeling and extending Terminal C, and constructing five baggage carousels that will be centralized between the terminals. Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of 2023. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
