Venture Global Okays Construction of CP2 LNG Project in Louisiana - U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) company Venture Global LNG (Arlington, Virginia) said on Monday it has decided to go ahead with the construction of its CP2 export facility in Louisiana after it closed $15.1 billion in financing for the first phase of the project. the decision could boost the company's export capacity by more than 70% within two years. It is the third positive final investment decision for a U.S. LNG export project since January. China's LNG Imports Continue Decline - According to ship-tracking data by Kpler via Bloomberg, China's LNG imports are estimated to have clocked in at 5 million metric tons in June 2025, representing a 12% year-on-year decline, marking the eighth straight month of declines. In the first four months of the year, China's LNG imports slumped to 20 million tons, a sharp fall from 29 million tons from last year's comparable period. Full-year imports for the current year are now expected to fall 6% to 11% to 76.65 million metric tons. (OilPrice.com)

Thailand's PTTEP Buys 50% Stake in Offshore Gas Block from Chevron - Thai oil and gas giant PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) (Bangkok) has acquired 50% of Block A-18 in the Malaysia--Thailand Joint Development Area in a US$450 million transaction with units of Chevron Corporation (Houston, Texas). PTTEP said in a statement late on Friday it signed the deal with Hess (Bahamas) and Hess Asia Holdings, both now owned by Chevron following a recent merger with Hess Corporation. PTTEP said natural gas from Block A-18 is fundamental to power generation for southern Thailand. The block produces about 600 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, which is equally distributed to Thailand and Malaysia. (Reuters)
